The top-tier Max-Planck-UBC-UTokyo Fellowships are introduced to offer excellent, highly-motivated candidates ideal conditions to perform collaborative research within the Centre. Based either at the UBC, the UTokyo or at a Max-Planck Institute, you will have the opportunity to visit the corresponding partner institution and take advantage of its infrastructure for your research. We offer a competitive salary and sufficient funding to cover travel expenses within the collaboration and to communicate scientific results in journals and at conferences.
As a candidate, you are expected to demonstrate a strong scientific background, typically manifest in an excellent PhD performance; publications in renowned journals; the capability to cope with topics beyond the own, limited field of research; teamwork and communication skills. Further, supportive criteria include experience with (international) collaborations, the acquisition of third-party funding, the supervision of students, organizational skills, presentations at international meetings and awards.
In all cases, please apply electronically, sending a C.V. and a statement of research interests, including an outline of a suggested research project and the names of the prospective supervisors. Also arrange for three letters of reference. You are welcome to develop your own research ideas, compatible with the research areas of the Centre, or to seek advice from a project leader or principal investigator of the Centre. The applications will be evaluated by the Scientific Board Members, and the best candidates will be invited for an interview.
Please send your application, depending on the place to the following members:
