Workshops

This year the StEM group had the pleasure of hosting so many talks on various interesting topics which spanned the range from photonics all the way to acoustics, bio and energy materials. The invited speakers came from Canada, France, England and different parts of Germany to share and discuss their scientific results and plans. Indeed the atmosphere of this castle and the surrounding area was an inducive factor to such a relaxing scientific reunion. The scientific theme of the 2016 International Workshop at Ringberg Castle was ‘Interfaces’ and, as expected, the speakers gave an excellent set of talks that covered many interpretations and extensions of the theme. Fascinating results on the beneficial (and detrimental) effects of interfaces in materials for batteries, thermoelectric devices, solar cells and superconductors were presented, as well as much more...
