Electronic Structure of Correlated Materials

Group Leader

Philipp studied physics in Cologne and moved for his PhD to the Vienna University of Technology. After postdoc periods in Vienna, at the Ecole Polytechnique and the College de France in Paris he moved to the MPI in Stuttgart to start a research group focussed on electronic structure of correlated materials. His research topics include transition metal oxides and oxide superstructures, heavy fermion rare earth compounds and more exotic correlated compounds like adatom lattices on semiconductor substrates.

Philipp Hansmann

PhD Students

Daniil is a PhD student and working on Dynamical Mean-Field Theory for correlated systems with strong spin-orbit coupling. These include transition metal oxides like ruthenates and 4f Ce based Heavy Fermion compounds.

Xiaodong is a PhD student and working with extended Dynamical Mean-Field Theory on model systems that include non-local interactions. Specifically, he is interested to explore instabilities to superconductivity in these models.

Michael is a joint member of our group and the AG Daghofer at the University of Stuttgart. He is working on DFT calculations and Wannier projections for correlated Irridates and Ruthenates.

Marcel is a joint member of our group and the Institut für Theoretische Physik Tübingen lead by Prof Dr. Sabine Andergassen. He is working towards conceptual and numerical extensions of cluster dynamical mean-field theory.
