Printer Installation Problems

Setup Point and Print Restrictions

While trying to install printers from fkfprint, you might see on some Windows XP systems the following error message:
"A policy is in effect on your computer which prevents you from connecting to this print queue. Please contact your system administrator." (Eine Sicherheitsrichtlinie verhindert ...)

To fix this do the following:

If you have administrative privileges on your system:

• Logon as Administrator (or with an account which has administrative privileges)
• Run the command gpedit.msc
• Go to User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Control Panel / Printers
• Double click Point and Print Restrictions
• Select Disabled
• Click OK

If you do NOT have administrative privileges on your system:

• Please contact your local group administrator!
