High Pressure Synthesis

The High Pressure Synthesis Laboratory supports the activity of Dept. Jansen, as well as all the other research departments and service groups within MPI/FKF, with experiments at extreme conditions, in large volume high pressure devices, capable to contain mm3-sized samples.
We perform synthesis of novel materials, we detect and map new phase boundaries and melting curves, and measure physical properties such as electrical resistivity and isothermal compressibilty.
In addition, we perform development work dedicated to extending the pressure range in large volume devices, beyond the present limit.
