Soggy sand electrolytes do not only favorably combine the advantages of liquid and solid state in terms of electrical and mechanical properties, they even offer synergistic advantages in terms of ion conductivity and transference number, the latter being decisive for the occurrence of salt concentration polarization effects. These effects can be calculated by applying the concept of Conservative Ensemble for these solid-liquid composites. The very same concept also allows handling the complex reaction-diffusion behavior in pure liquid electrolytes in a generalized manner.
