Quantum entanglement of spin, orbital and charge degrees of freedom of correlated electrons in oxides is the main topic of our interest. As members of the experimental department, we are strongly motivated by the exciting discoveries made in the lab and try to understand them in terms of many-body theories. Prediction of novel electronic phases in oxides and their interfaces/heterostructures is the main goal of our joint work within Keimer's department as well as with the members of Metzner's theory departments.

Phase diagram of the Kitaev-Heisenberg model on a honeycomb lattice. It describes the spin-orbit entangled ground states in iridium oxides and contains a quantum spin liquid phase supporting the emergent topological excitations represented by Majorana fermions. J.
