Acknowledging Research with Long-Standing Influence

Each year, Clarivate Analytics publishes the list of Highly Cited Researchers, highlighting scientists whose publications have been frequently referenced in their respective fields. The list recognizes contributions that have had a sustained scientific influence, based on publications that rank among the top 1% most cited in the Web of Science over the past eleven years.

The selection is carried out using a methodology developed by the Institute for Scientific Information™ (ISI) at Clarivate. It covers 20 subject areas as well as a Cross-Field category, which acknowledges work that resonates across disciplinary boundaries. The process ensures that the evaluation focuses on meaningful scientific impact.

We are pleased to share that two researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research (MPI-FKF) appear on the Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list:

  • Professor Bettina V. Lotsch
Director of the Nanochemistry Department, recognized in the Cross-Field category

  • Professor Joachim Maier
former Director of the Physical Chemistry of Solids Department, also listed in the Cross-Field category

Their inclusion reflects the continued relevance of their research within the wider scientific community and highlights the contributions of the MPI-FKF to developments in materials science, chemistry, and solid-state research.

We congratulate Professor Lotsch and Professor Maier on this recognition.
