Electrical and Chemical Transport

The transport properties in ionic solids involve the transport of ionic and electronic defects in bulk and across / along interfaces (grain boundaries, electrodes and surfaces). In contrast to electrical transport, in ionic solids chemical transport comprises the coupled motion of oppositely charged carriers (ions and electrons, or two ionic defects).

Research areas:
  • Mechanisms of ion transport
  • Irreversible thermodynamics and master equation approach to diffusion
  • Influence of ion-electron interaction on transport properties
  • Transport across and along homo- and heterojunctions
  • Constriction and percolation effects
