In this presentation I will discuss the response of ultra-thin epitaxial superconducting materials in an in-plane magnetic field and illustrate how unconventional responses can be engineered through the interactions between magnetic moments in the
material and the applied field in materials. In the most striking case, magnetic-field induced superconductivity emerges at low temperatures due to dynamic control over the scattering of Cooper pairs off polarizable sites in the lattice. I will discuss how this effect is general, and how it may emerge as a useful knob for probing the order parameter of the superconducting state.
