Solid ionic conductors (solid electrolytes) are characterized by a high mobility and / or high concentration of ionic defects. They can be classified as weakly disordered materials (low defect concentrations, high mobility) or as heavily disordered "superionic" conductors (high concentration of point defects).
Examples of cation conductors investigated are:
- novel compounds
- novel microstructures/composites
