5G05 Biography: Dr. Hongguang Wang leads the research group on Dimensionality Dependent Material Functionality. He earned a PhD (summa cum laude) in Materials Physics (2020) at Technical University of Darmstadt (thesis at Max-Planck-Institute, Stuttgart). After his B.S. in Materials Physics and Chemistry (2015, Univ. of Chinese Academy of Sciences), he joined MPI for Solid State Research as a Research Scientist (promoted to Permanent Staff in 2021, Research Group Leader in 2024). Research: Interface of electron microscopy, condensed matter physics, and functional materials (magnetism, energy). Focuses on multimodal electron microscopy/spectroscopy to understand how atoms assemble and interact in quantum materials and devices, especially at interfaces, impacting their functionality. Expertise: Atomic-resolution STEM/EELS, Quantum matter heterostructures/interfaces, Cryogenic electron microscopy/spectroscopy, Low-dimensional physics/chemistry.
