Extra information

Biography: Dr. Tara P. Mishra leads the research group on Autonomous and Quantitative Electron Microscopy.

He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the National University of Singapore (2022) as a SMART (Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology) Fellow, where he specialized in bridging atomic-scale computational modeling with high-resolution microscopy. Prior to his appointment as Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in 2026, he served as a Project Scientist at the National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Research: At the convergence of autonomous microscopy and computational materials science. He focuses on the development of "self-driving" electron microscopy platforms and automated data workflows to accelerate the discovery of next-generation functional materials.

Expertise: Autonomous Characterization, Quantitative STEM/4D-STEM, Correlative Materials Modeling (DFT/kMC/ML), and Atomic Engineering of functional materials.
