Dr. Li Manni's group honored in a special issue of Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation

July 30, 2024

Early career scientists continue to make pivotal contributions to theoretical and computational chemistry. Reflecting this, the Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation (JCTC) has established an Early Career Board (ECB) to recognize and support the vision of these emerging scientists. In collaboration with the JCTC editorial board, the ECB has organized a special collection titled "JCTC Early Career Board Selects," highlighting recent work by early career scientists who have achieved independence, as demonstrated by their role as corresponding authors. Most of these authors are within the first six years of their independent positions.

This collection (available here) showcases 18 articles published in 2022 and 2023, covering a broad range of topics. Among these articles is the work of Dr. Giovanni Li Manni's group, a leader within the Electronic Structure Theory department, which is headed by Prof. Ali Alavi. The ECB honored their work, which can be accessed here.

Dr. Li Manni's research was selected for demonstrating how optimal site ordering in the unitary group approach can lead to highly compact, block-diagonal Hamiltonians for strongly correlated Heisenberg models.

This inaugural collection sets a precedent for JCTC’s commitment to promoting and highlighting early career scientists as a vital part of the community, bringing new ideas, energy, and perspectives.
