Several of the running projects of the Centre offer PhD student positions which will give you an excellent start into your scientific career. In university rankings, the UBC is regularly listed among the best universities worldwide in most categories. The German Max-Planck Society is a world leader in fundamental research, and is in addition devoted to the education of students on the graduate level. The UTokyo has led research and education in Japan since its foundation as a national university in 1877 and is Japan's premier institution for higher education.

If you are interested in a PhD project, please contact one of the principal investigators of our collaborative projects, as listed on one of the project pages. He or she will typically expect you to be graduating at a reputable university, with excellent grades, and might be interested in interviewing you online. For a successful PhD thesis in our Centre, you will need teamwork and communication skills and must be proficient in spoken and written English. Further criteria, like experience in laboratory or computational work, or awards you might have received, can support your application.
