Dr. Aparajita Singha receives the Emmy Noether grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG)

~ 2 million Euro for establishing her independent research group at MPI-FKF, Stuttgart, Germany.

Dr. Singha is a group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart. Her group focusses on quantum sensing using nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond in ultra-high vacuum and low temperature (4 K). Within the scope of her recently awarded Emmy Noether grant, her goal is to open up a new direction in the field of coherent quantum control of single surface-supported spin systems. Being simultaneously supported by the  Young researcher grant through the IQST, Dr. Singha’s research stands at the intersection of quantum nanoscience and engineering.

The prestigious  Emmy Noether grant is awarded by the Deutsche Forschunsgemeinschaft (DFG) to exceptionally qualified early career researchers, to provide them the opportunity to satisfy the prerequisites for appointment as a university professor. The grant is awarded for a period of six years during which the successful Emmy Noether group leader establishes and leads an independent junior research group as well as performs relevant teaching duties.

The research group of Dr. Singha is hosted at the Nanoscale Science Department directed by  Professor Klaus Kern. Alongside utilizing the expertise, in-house facilities and the infrastructure available within this department, she is also closely collaborating with  Professor Jörg Wrachtrup from University of Stuttgart and  Professor Ádám Gali from the Institute for Solid State Physics and Optics, Hungary. With the newly awarded Emmy Noether grant, Dr. Singha looks forward to expand her group with new PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers.
